BASIC INFORMATION for HOSTING A COURSE
What you can Build
Ideally we want to demonstrate a complete wall during our courses. That means a double-wythe wall that is insulated and at least 6 ft tall and 8 ft long. The course project could be one or more walls of a house or ADU, the walls of a green house, or a sauna, or an accessory building, etc.
Approximate Budget Needed
$8,000 - 14,000 is typical but it depends on what you want to build.
Course Supplies
Seating for up to 20 people. Tables for meals, and a port-a-loo needs to be available for participants during the course.
Mix Design
We will support you with the specific materials and putting together a mix design for the project. This is crucial for a successful, long-lasting rammed earth project. We only build rammed earth that is 3000+ psi.
Space Needed
You will need a minimum of 1000 sq ft to work in and probably more depending on what you are wanting to build.
Formwork
Many different types of formwork are available and we will support you to choose the right type and where to get it.
Materials
Enough of the specific aggregate, sand and cement needed for the construction of your rammed earth wall. We will support you with the calculations and amounts for what is needed. Other materials include: rebar, screws, etc.
Other Considerations
Are permits needed for your project?
Is there enough space for parking up to 15 vehicles on or near your property?
Rammed earth walls need to be built on specific sized footings to carry the load. You will need to have the footings in place at least 7-days prior to the course starting.
Is power and water available?
